At Indooroopilly Family Practice the care of our patients, and the safety of patients and staff, is our top priority.

We are keeping up-to-date with the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic, and we are implementing local guidelines.

One important tool in minimising risk to patients and staff is the introduction of Telehealth consults for all patients.

Bulk-billed Telehealth appointments are available to certain eligible groups (see below) but any current patients can pay a private fee of $68 to speak via telephone or video-call to one of our doctors.

As we do not have appropriate facilities to test for the virus at IFP, we can assess and advise you over the phone.

We aim to minimise the number of patients sitting in our waiting room to reduce the risk of the COVID-19 virus spreading to patients and staff.

We can manage simple requests, reviews and repeat scripts for well patients via Telehealth.  If you are home from work with mild cold symptoms – whether or not you may require COVID-19 testing – we can manage this over the phone, as well as providing medical certificates if required.

Please urge your workplace to reconsider the need for medical certificates at this time.  This will reduce pressure on medical services and reduce your risk of further exposure to infections, as well as reducing risk to our staff.

If any of our staff develop even mild respiratory symptoms they are required to leave work and isolate until well.  This is already placing pressure on our workforce.

If you have already made an appointment for a face-to-face review at IFP, we remind you to please call ahead to the practice if you have any respiratory symptoms or fever, a recent overseas travel history, or any concerns that you have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.  Our staff will ask questions to assess the best course of action.

You are eligible for bulk billed Medicare Telehealth if you fulfil the requirements below.

If you do not fit the criteria below but wish to avoid coming into the practiceplease request a private Telehealth consult which will cost $68 for an appointment less than 20 minutes in length.
